Group Programs

ON-SITE GROUP PROGRAMS

Wesselman Woods is a busy place. Please make your program reservation at least two months in advance for the best chance at securing your desired program date.

If you are interested in a guided program at Wesselman Woods, we can accommodate groups up to 100 participants. If your group is larger than 100 participants, please email the Director of Education for guidance.

If you are interested in a guided program at Howell Wetlands, we can accommodate groups up to 75 participants. If your group is larger than 75 participants, you must split the group up into a two-day program or consider a self-guided experience. 

  • Program days are Wednesdays and Fridays during the spring semester, and Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the fall semester.

  • Each participant (students and adult chaperones) during the program is $6. There is a limit of one chaperone for every ten students. Teachers and bus drivers are free.

  • Title I schools are eligible for a sponsorship. Visit our Classroom Sponsorship page for more information!

OFF-SITE GROUP PROGRAMS

For an outreach program, please make your reservation at least two months in advance for the best chance at securing your desired program date. Outreach programs can include animal encounters, biofact exploration, and/or guided activities. Programs can last from thirty minutes to two hours depending on the number of classrooms or participants.

Outreach pricing:

$100 for 30-45 minutes

$150 for 1 hour

$175 for 1.5 hours

$200 for 2 hours

*Usually each classroom averages 30 minutes for an animal encounter, exploration, and/or guided activity.

If your school/group is located outside of Vanderburgh or Warrick County, there is an additional fee for travel time and gas. We will add a $30 fee for outreach requests in Posey and Henderson County. We will add a $45 fee for outreach requests in Gibson and Spencer county.

If you pay by check, please ensure that the check is made out to Wesselman Woods.

Self-Guided Field Trip

Planning a visit to Wesselman Woods with your group, organization, or class?

If our educational programs are fully booked, don’t worry! Wesselman Woods welcomes self-guided field trips. Your group would have access to the nature center, trails, and Nature Playscape. We also have activity sheets available at the front desk, offering engaging exploration of topics related to the local ecosystem.

For groups with children, we recommend exploring the Nature Playscape.

Don’t forget to bring water, bug spray, and sunscreen during the warmer months.

Pricing for self-guided field trips is the same as our general admission rates:

  • Adults - $5

  • Children (ages 3 -12) - $3

  • Children under 3 are free.
